CFU seeks emerging opportunities in philanthropy to partner with individuals, organizations, and foundations to serve our state. We develop staff resources for Utah’s social sector through programs that attract, retain, and develop top talent.

The Morgan Stanley Community Development Graduate Fellowship is an example of CFU’s focus on developing talented nonprofit staff. We believe connecting students to community development work now is an investment in the social impact leaders of tomorrow.

The Opportunity for Utah

Each year, the Morgan Stanley Community Development Graduate Fellowship pairs students from graduate level university programs (Fellows) with high performing community development organizations (Host Organizations). Both Fellows and Host Organizations apply to be part of this opportunity, which supports projects in affordable housing, economic development, or community planning.

Program Benefits for Fellows Include:

  • High-quality training and mentorship at some of Utah’s best community development organizations
  • A $20,000 stipend for the ten month Fellowship; 20 hours per week from September 1st – June 30th
  • The opportunity to meet with leaders in Utah government, private sector, philanthropic sector, and community development fields
  • Access to Fellow & Alumni Programming, trainings, and workshops including mixers, career-building information sessions, and opportunities to connect with this growing community of community development professionals
  • Possibility to receive academic credit, in accordance with the policies of the Fellows’ respective academic programs

Program Benefits for Host Organizations Include:

  • The opportunity to build and expand capacity at the organization for a clearly defined community development project

It is important to feel your legacy is in good hands. At the Community Foundation of Utah we connect with donors over shared values and interests, working toward a common goal: make the world a better place. We cultivate rich relationships with our fundholders based on the belief that we are all in this together.
