Award Amount: Twelve (12) organizations will receive $5,000 Community Impact grants, and three (3) organizations will receive a $10,000 signature award in one of the following categories:
- Utah Impact Award: Recognizes an outstanding organization that most exemplifies meaningful community impact, organizational strength, and strong alignment with the SFS CRA pillars.
- Emerging Impact Award: Recognizes a promising nonprofit demonstrating meaningful community development work and strong potential for continued growth and impact in Utah.
- Small Business Impact Award: Recognizes an organization doing exceptional and innovative work to support Utah small businesses and entrepreneurs.
Grant Qualifications
To qualify for the SFS Community Impact Grant Program, applying organizations must:
- Be a public organization with a 501(c)3 tax-exempt status
- Maintain a physical office in the state of Utah
- Not discriminate based on race, color, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, national origin, ancestry, citizenship, veteran, or disability status
- Participate in at least one of the following community development activities aligned with SFS’s Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) pillars:
- Small business development
- Affordable housing
- Reentry support and entrepreneurship
- Financial capability and wellness
Evaluation Criteria:
Applications will be reviewed by a committee of at least seven (7) SFS Utah-based staff members and representatives. Evaluations will be based on:
- The quality and strength of the organization in achieving its goals
- Innovativeness and effectiveness of the project or organization
- Potential impact on the Utah community
- Alignment with Square Financial Services’ core values and CRA pillars
Timeline & Terms:
- Completed applications are due by 11:59 p.m. MT on Sunday, September 27, 2026. Incomplete applications will not be considered
- Selected organizations will be notified via email no later than December 31, 2026
All grant applications are subject to review of the organization’s qualifications, impact to the Utah community, and agreement to comply with applicable terms and conditions. Submission of an application does not guarantee selection or funding. Organizations will not qualify if they deny service, membership, or involvement on a discriminatory basis. The final selection of grant recipients will be made at the sole discretion of the SFS Community Impact Grant directors.
As a condition of receiving funding, selected organizations must provide additional information to CFU and SFS and agree to allow select information from their application to be used for promotional purposes.
