Donor Services Coordinator

The Donor Services Coordinator fulfills a multi-functional and vital role at the Community Foundation of Utah. He/she is responsible for ensuring the fulfillment of the Foundation’s mission and values by overseeing the Foundation’s charitable funds. Specifically, he/she will provide donor services and strategic support to fundholders, establish new funds, oversee grant processes, design and implement philanthropic services strategies, contribute to marketing and communications materials, and support the CEO with high-value funds. Primary activities include, but are not limited to:

  1. Donor Relations

  • Understand the legal and technical requirements of all funds types
  • Establish new funds and orient new fundholders
  • Oversee all charitable funds and serve as liaison for fundholders
  • Manage and nurture relationships with fundholders
  • Research local needs and nonprofit organizations in order to advise fundholders
  • Develop and implement donor relations and services strategies
  1. Grant Administration

  • Collaborate with Financial Analyst on efficient grant administration
  • Conduct due diligence to evaluate fundholder grant recommendations
  • Facilitate Field of Interest fund grantmaking; assess applications and manage fund committees
  • Oversee externally managed funds, including Women’s Giving Circles and LGBTQ Community Endowment Fund, for compliance to Foundation requirements
  • Update Board of Directors quarterly on grants distributed
  1. Development and Fund Growth

  • Grow and retain existing donor advised funds, transitioning most to an endowed structure  
  • Support CEO in establishing and serving high-value donor advised funds
  • Support CEO/COO to create Foundation-directed endowed funds
  • Support CEO/COO to create a sustainable donor services model and fund fee structure
  • Assist with grant writing to support Foundation operations and programs
  1. Communications and Marketing

  • Coordinate bi-monthly e-newsletters and quarterly statements to fundholders
  • Provide material to Program and Administrative Coordinator for marketing and communications on significant grants and fund activity
  • Ensure fund marketing materials are in line with fund structures
  1. Other Responsibilities

  • Special projects as assigned


  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of three years work experience
  • Excellent research, writing, editing, and communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with exceptional attention to detail
  • Development, communications, and/or management experience
  • A desire to learn and grow with a “can do” attitude and desire to broaden skill set and knowledge base
  • Knowledge of all Microsoft programs and highly computer literate
  • Willingness to work some evenings and weekends
  • Knowledge of the local philanthropic landscape a plus
  • Nonprofit experience a plus
