Anticipated salary:    $40,000 - $50,000 plus benefits. Final salary commensurate with experience. 

Summary:                    The Community Initiatives Manager fulfills a vital role at CFU. As CFU continues to grow and evolve, the Community Initiatives Manager is responsible for ensuring that CFU programmatic and grantmaking initiatives keep pace with this evolution. The Community Initiatives Manager will develop and manage initiatives that reflect a spirit of innovative, collaborative and impactful philanthropy, as well as integrate with larger organizational goals and objectives. This position is responsible for developing a strategic vision and implementation plan for all assigned programmatic and grantmaking initiatives, as well as lead day-to-day execution of these initiatives. Primary activities include, but are not limited to:

  1. Programmatic Initiatives
  • Lead strategic visioning and planning for CFU’s major programmatic initiatives including: Social Investors Forum, Invest in Success, Utah Grantmaker’s Alliance and Giving Circles
  • Ensure these initiatives are relevant, impactful, and aligned with broader CFU goals and values
  • Develop target dates, milestones, and measurable goals and begin executing against the vision
  • Manage all aspects of the above programmatic initiatives, including internal operations and vendor preparation, meeting/event planning, communication and outreach, implementation, and participant follow-up
  • Create and onboard new programmatic initiatives as needed
  • Wind-down or redesign programmatic initiatives not aligned with larger organizational goals
  • Coordinate grant applications, committee review, and grant administration for funding deployed through these initiatives
  • Coordinate with Donor Services team to identify opportunities for current and prospective CFU donors to engage substantively with programmatic initiatives
  • Oversee Fiscal Sponsorship activity, including grant administration, budgeting, and correspondence
  1. Grantmaking Pillars and Initiatives
  • Develop and implement annual communication, engagement, and review process for all strategic grants
  • Develop narrative for CFU strategic grantmaking inclusive of programmatic support and data and analytics
  • Convene Advisory Committees and other external stakeholders annually on strategic grantmaking impact
  • Manage all committee communication, agendas, and meeting scheduling
  • Develop RFPs and grant applications, manage grant review, selection and administration process
  • Ensure grantmaking recipient organizations have the resources to promote their grant results and impact
  • Coordinate with Social Impact Analyst to develop effective measurement and evaluation processes
  • Special projects as assigned
  1. Communications
  • Write, edit, and publish press releases or other articles relevant to programmatic and grantmaking initiatives
  • Develop concise and engaging story-telling assets for programmatic and grantmaking initiatives in order to better share this work with relevant stakeholders and the broader community
  1. Board of Directors
  • Identify resources and opportunities to continue educating the Board about philanthropy and CFU
  • Ensure the organization is maximizing each Board Member’s unique experience and skill set
  • Populate and distribute monthly Board email and bi-monthly impact dashboard
  • Manage the distribution of agendas and attachments for Board and committee meetings
  • Attend all Board and committee meetings and oversee the completion of meeting minutes, file maintenance, and follow-up items
  • Support Chief Executive Officer in response to Board requests
  1. Office Operations
  • Assist with any other office related work as needed

Qualifications

  • Minimum of two years managing social impact programs/initiatives
  • Excellent research, writing, editing, and communication skills
  • Willingness to experiment, take risks and think boldly
  • Visionary thinker with the ability to execute at the tactical level
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent multi-tasking and organizational skills
  • Exacting attention to detail
  • Proficient with MS Office and highly computer literate
  • Helpful, friendly, customer service-oriented attitude a must
  • Resourceful self-starter with ability to create clarity with ambiguous environment
  • A desire to learn and grow
  • Willingness to work some evenings and weekends
