Behind each of our donors is a unique inspiration and vision. Whether their "community" is an issue, organization, hometown, our entire state, or places far from home, their gifts help support the causes that are closest to their hearts.
Joesph Grenny established a fund with us to support Program Related Investments.
"I believe that nonprofits tweak the world, but markets change it. That is why I have chosen to invest part of my Donor Advised Fund at the Community Foundation in Program Related Investments. These investments serve two important purposes: they create livelihoods for some of the poorest people in the world, providing a social return, and the financial return will allow me to invest in even more life changing businesses. Working through the foundation I am helping dairy farmers in India and small store owners in Indonesia compete in the market and raise their families’ standard of living.
Establishing a Donor Advised Fund has made investing through a PRI a simple process, and allowed us to disconnect the tax timing of our giving from the more important goal of strategic philanthropy. PRIs have been a tool of large foundations like the Gates and Rockefeller Foundations. It is quite remarkable that a relatively young community foundation in Utah is leading in this way -- but that is why I am such an ardent supporter of their work."
